Merry Christmas!

This is an extra special time of the year, where people around the globe are celebrating love and connection, and coming together with loved ones. It’s a season of giving, gratitude, and spreading cheer to family and strangers alike.

This is why I love the Christmas season - even though I’m a practicing Buddhist - because it’s a time of joy and spirit.

Traditionally, people celebrate Christmas to honor the birth of Jesus. Historically, it’s believed he was born in the spring. So why December 25th, and how is it important spiritually?

For millennia there were pagan celebrations around this time all about the return of light to the days. There are countless holidays in almost every tradition related to light at the end of the year - Hannukah and the lighting of the Menorah, Diwali, the Yule tradition, and of course Christmas Lights. It’s also a time and the return of light and hope after the winter Solstice each year.

When Christmas was celebrated on Dec 25th, it aligned with all of the age-old traditions of honoring the light once again. And while the coming of light in the world is represented by the increasing sunlight each day, Christmas can be seen as birthing the inner light of the Christ Consciousness within each person.

Metaphysically, it's about bringing to life the potential for awakening to your inherent Divinity, the Christening of your soul. Because we all have the inner spark of life within us, the energy of God.

This holiday, or holy day, is a reminder that you can awaken to your inner Christ Light, and that there’s a new hope coming for you. But you don’t have to wait for Christmas each year. You can bring forth, or give birth, to the potential in you to do magnificent things, to make a powerful impact on the world, and to leave a legacy of love, hope, and peace for others, just like Jesus did as the Christ.

In fact, let today be a reminder to you that you have a Divine Purpose that you’re meant to fulfill. And Christmas is the perfect time to bring forth that potential, expand your light so that it reaches others in times of darkness, and share the life-giving energy of love. Your Divine Purpose is waiting for you to have the courage and confidence to create a life you enjoy and is bigger than you ever could have imagined!

The light of the Christ Consciousness is pouring down on humanity today. So whether you're celebrating with family and loved ones, or simply enjoying a quiet weekend, remember to connect with your inner Christ Light, and create a life based on a new consciousness of Truth and Love.
