About Sarah Byrd

I’m Sarah Byrd, a therapist, photographer, and coach dedicated to helping women heal, grow, and reconnect with your true self. With a background in clinical counseling and mindfulness-based practices, I specialize in working with women who are ready to break free from old patterns, embrace their inner strength, and create lives filled with purpose and joy.

I’m currently a Clinical Counseling Master’s student at Naropa University (MA Candidate), where I focus on mindfulness-based and transpersonal approaches to therapy. Naropa’s integration of contemplative practice and psychology aligns deeply with my values of healing through mind, body, and spirit. In addition, I’m pursuing a Master’s in Psychology at Harvard University (ALM Candidate), allowing me to bring a well-rounded, integrative perspective to my work. As a pre-licensed professional, I am continually growing my clinical skills, providing therapeutic services under supervision while staying committed to the most up-to-date, evidence-based approaches.

I’ve also created a therapy companion journal called Unfolding, designed to support your healing journey. This journal offers thoughtful prompts and reflections to help you explore your inner world and integrate our therapy sessions into your daily life. It’s a tool for self-discovery, growth, and deepening your connection with yourself.

In addition to therapy, I offer branding photography for therapists and coaching services for women looking to build soul-centered businesses.   • Transpersonal counseling integrates spirituality with psychological healing.   • Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a powerful approach that helps you explore and heal the different "parts" of yourself. We all have various inner parts—such as the inner critic, protector, or wounded child—that influence how we feel and behave. In IFS, we work to understand these parts, give them a voice, and heal any internal conflicts they may cause. This process fosters greater self-awareness, self-compassion, and integration, helping you feel more whole and at peace.

Get Started

When a therapist and client are on the same page, therapy is a better experience and is more likely to be helpful to you. Below are some logistics of what it’s like to work together and things that are important for you to know. If, after reading this, you think I’m a good fit for your needs, there are instructions for getting started at the bottom of the page.

  • I work with adult women and individuals who identify as women (18 and older) seeking support in navigating life’s challenges.

    I exclusively offer individual therapy at this time, but will share any group therapy programs when they become available.

  • If you're interested in working together, start by filling out the New Client Inquiry form below. This form gives me insight into your needs and helps us determine if we’re a good fit.

    Once the form is submitted, you’ll be invited to schedule a free 15-minute consultation with me. This call is an opportunity for us to address any questions, discuss logistics, and ensure that I’m the right therapist to support your goals.

    During the consultation, we’ll talk through your needs, and if we both agree to move forward, I’ll set you up in my secure client portal. From there, you can choose your weekly session time and complete the necessary intake and consent forms.

    Before each session, you'll receive an email with a link to our secure video session if you choose virtual therapy.

  • Sessions are $120 per 50-minute session.

    I offer a limited number of sliding scale spots based on financial need. If you feel you qualify, we can discuss this during our consultation or in the intake process.

  • I am currently a Master's in Clinical Counseling student, and a pre-licensed professional therapist, so do not accept insurance. However, I can provide you with a bill to submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement if your plan covers out-of-network providers.

  • I offer therapy both in-person and online.

    In-person sessions take place in a private, welcoming office in Highlands Ranch, CO.

    For those outside the area or who prefer the convenience of remote sessions, I also provide secure video therapy.

  • In our initial sessions, I'll take time to get to know you, understand your challenges, and clarify your therapy goals. By the end of our first or second session, I’ll share my perspective on your situation and how I can best support you in your healing journey.

    As we continue, we’ll focus on the areas you want to work on most, and I’ll guide you through personalized strategies and insights to create meaningful change. We’ll regularly check in on your progress to make sure you’re moving in a direction that feels right for you.

    During our sessions, you can expect a hands-on approach with mindfulness exercises and experiential learning to help you directly apply what we explore together. This might feel new at first, but it’s essential for growth. I'll also provide simple practices for you to integrate into your daily life between sessions, ensuring that your healing continues beyond our time together.

  • Enhance your therapeutic journey with "Unfolding: Therapy Companion Journal," a thoughtfully designed tool to support your growth between sessions. This journal is crafted to help you delve deeper into your self-discovery process, reflect on your experiences, and integrate the insights you gain from our sessions.

    Inside, you’ll find prompts and exercises that align with the therapeutic work we do together. Use it to track your progress, explore your thoughts and emotions, and set intentions for your personal growth. The journal provides a space for you to process what’s coming up for you and prepare for our next session with clarity.

    "Unfolding" is more than just a journal - it’s a guide in your journey, helping you build self-awareness and stay engaged with your healing process. Whether you’re reflecting on session themes, setting goals, or exploring new insights, this journal will be a valuable addition to your therapeutic practice. I recommend it to all of my clients.

  • Life happens, and I understand that things come up. If you need to cancel or reschedule, I ask for at least 24 hours’ notice to avoid being charged for the session. Cancellations made less than 24 hours in advance will be charged the full session fee.

    I waive fees for two cancellations per year. A cancellation fee is only charged after using up your two waived sessions.

  • The frequency of sessions depends on your individual needs and goals. Many clients begin with weekly or bi-weekly sessions to build momentum, and over time, the frequency may adjust.

    Therapy is a personal journey, so the duration of our work together varies—some clients benefit from short-term work, while others engage in longer-term therapy.

    My working hours are Tuesday & Thursday 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM. I am out of the office on most major holidays and we can adjust your regular sessions accordingly.

    After we’ve connected and you’ve become a client, you’ll be able to schedule sessions through my online booking system.

  • Therapy is a collaborative process. To get the most out of our time together, it’s important to be an active participant in your inner exploration, transformation, and growth.

      Therapy doesn’t stop when the session ends. Journaling between sessions, reflecting on what we discuss, and practicing mindfulness or other exercises we work on can enhance your progress and deepen the work we do together.
      The work we do together isn’t just about talking—it’s about putting those conversations into action. By integrating the tools and strategies we develop into your daily life, you’ll begin to see real shifts in how you relate to yourself and others.

    3. Communicate Openly
      Open communication is key. If you have feedback or need adjustments, please let me know. I view your input as a valuable opportunity to enhance our work together and ensure that the therapy process meets your needs.

    4. Offer Yourself Grace and Patience
      Remember that healing and change can be more complex than expected, and therapy can sometimes be challenging. When you feel discomfort or face obstacles, remember that these moments often indicate growth and progress. Patience and trust in the process are essential, so offering yourself grace and compassion can help the growing pains of transformation.
