Mystical Messages of Easter Series: Resurrection
Hello Lovely,
Welcome back to Day 7 of the Mystical Messages of Easter Series!
This Easter is an especially powerful one for me this year because I’m in my Christ Year, which is when you’re 33 years old - the same age Jesus supposedly was during the Easter story.
So I’m feeling deeply connected, not so much with the actual historical events of the Easter story (who knows if they’re true or not?!), but with the powerful mystical messages hidden within the tale.
And I hope that you can start to feel the same power that lies within the expanse of the Universe, and also within the mysteries of your soul.
Because the truth is, you are an expression of the Divine, and you have within your heart the potential to make a huge impact on the world. It’s time to step into your Divine Light and create a life in alignment with your higher self.
Yesterday I shared the metaphysical interpretation of the Palm Sunday story, which is all about recognizing that you have the Divine Light within you, and the power to experience miracles everyday.
Today I’ll be sharing the mystical meaning of the Resurrection aspect of Holy Week.
Resurrection:
When Jesus walked freely out of his tomb, he had been brought back to life; resurrected to continue sharing his love with his disciples and followers.
We all know that people cannot literally be brought back from the dead, but this story holds within it a powerful message of beginning anew and transforming into a new life of awakening.
Most people interpret the story of the resurrection as proving that Jesus is the son of God, and that when he died he absolved us for all of our sins. This is actually a theology of punishment: You’re born sinful and wrong, you need to be saved, and Jesus had to be punished because of you.
But punishment theology couldn’t be further from the truth. It’s based on the belief that you’re wrong, not right; broken, not whole; sinful, not a blessing to the world. And these beliefs only keep you further away from Divine Source, separated from your True nature
So it’s time to understand the story in a way that brings you closer to yourself and more in alignment with living your Divine Purpose that’s waiting for you.
Jesus resurrecting from the dead is not about absolving your sins;
it’s about being your own savior.
Savior and Sovereign are closely related themes. Savior is about saving someone, of course. And sovereign is about ruling, being in charge.
If you’re waiting for someone to save you, then your life is in their hands; they rule you. But if you are the one saving yourself, you’re also in charge of yourself; you are ruling your life. And by ruling your heart and mind with inner freedom, you’re also saving yourself from victimhood. The two go hand in hand.
And maybe you’ve put your sovereignty in the hands of someone else and were looking for someone to save you from your suffering:
>> You hired coach after coach to give you the key to success, only to fail again
>> You were waiting for someone to give you permission to take up space and shine your light, but it never came so you stayed small and hidden
>> You wished you could marry a rich oil prince to pay off all your student loan debt, and even looked at flights to Dubai (I totally did this…)
Just something to save you. But the problem is that even if you had somehow gotten your “ticket out,” it still wouldn’t save you from yourself.
Ever heard about the lottery winners who inevitable lose all of their winnings in a year because even thought they had money, they didn’t know how to handle money… which is why they were broke in the first place… The lottery didn’t save them from their own habits.
When Jesus was resurrected, he was saved from the greatest threat there is: death. He was reborn into a new consciousness, and you have the ability to overcome victimhood and be born into your inherent sovereignty.
We don’t need saving from an outside source, our ability to become united with Divine Spirit comes from within. And we do this by standing in our power - even when people or events challenge us - we’re not threatened because we are embodying our truth. (When Jesus showed his disciples the holes in his hands and side, he was saying, “YES, my Divine power is real.”)
Jesus was showing us the way to
embody our own Divine power.
Resurrection is about taking responsibility; about saying, “my life is MINE.” And while it’s scary to take responsibility, because you have to be at fault for your suffering, it’s also liberating because you are finally empowered to do something about it. We can continue to resurrect in each moment when we remember our responsibility.
Reflection Questions:
>> What would it look like to take responsibility for your own happiness, needs, and fulfillment?
>> What Divine Purpose are you holding yourself back from by not being the savior and claiming your sovereignty in your own life?
