Mystical Messages of Easter Series: Passover & The Last Supper
Hello Lovely,
Welcome back to Day 2 of the Mystical Messages of Easter Series!
This Easter is an especially powerful one for me this year because I’m in my Christ Year, which is when you’re 33 years old - the same age Jesus supposedly was during the Easter story.
So I’m feeling deeply connected, not so much with the actual historical events of the Easter story (who knows if they’re true or not?!), but with the powerful mystical messages hidden within the tale.
And I hope that you can start to feel the same power that lies within the expanse of the Universe, and also within the mysteries of your soul.
Because the truth is, you are an expression of the Divine, and you have within your heart the potential to make a huge impact on the world. It’s time to step into your Divine Light and create a life in alignment with your higher self.
Yesterday I shared the metaphysical interpretation of the Palm Sunday story, which is all about recognizing that you have the Divine Light within you, and the power to experience miracles everyday.
Today I’ll be sharing the mystical meanings of the Passover and Last Supper aspect of Holy Week.
Passover:
The story of the Last Supper is packed with symbolism. It’s layered with ritual, metaphor, and mystical meanings that can help you uncover your untapped potential.
First you have to remember that Jesus was Jewish, and he came into Jerusalem to celebrate the Jewish holy day Passover with his disciples. This feast is to celebrate when the Israelites escaped from the Egyptians.
Symbolically, Passover represents transition and a bridge - it’s literally in the name Pass-Over. And the transition is one of freedom. Just as the Israelites were freed from the slavery under the Egyptians, so too can your mind be freed from the limitations and fears holding you back from your highest potential. So the Passover dinner that Jesus was participating in was to celebrate breaking free from the chains of our limiting beliefs, and reaching a higher potential within ourselves.
Reflection Questions:
>> What beliefs and limitations are you ready to break free from?
>> What would your life look like if you were to transition and pass over into a higher level of consciousness?
The Last Supper:
But this Passover celebration was different - Jesus would be celebrating with his Disciples for the last time before being arrested and persecuted by the Romans.
When Jesus first had his disciples begin to prepare the meal, he first sent Peter and John to get started in the upper room of a guest house. (Luke 22:8-13) The upper room represents a higher state of consciousness, connecting with the cosmic energy and preparing it for a meal, or communion, with the Divine. And it’s significant that Peter and John were to prepare this space, because metaphysically, they represent Faith and Love.
So we can use our own inner faith and love to prepare our heart and mind for communing with the Divine. This is the practice of meditation, mindfulness, and compassion as we connect with our higher selves.
Reflection Questions:
>> How can you prepare and connect with the Divine consciousness? (Being in nature... Practicing meditation or yoga... Listening to sacred chants...).
>> How can you cultivate faith and love in the upper room (sacred space) or your heart, and prepare for Divine inspiration?
After they shared the bread, Jesus then poured the wine and said, “This cup that is poured out for you is the covenant in my blood.” (Luke 22:20) Since he used the wine to symbolize his blood, which is the physical life force running through our bodies, you can see that the mystical representation is the Divine energy as the spiritual life force that permeates all of manifestation.
Just like the blood brings vital oxygen to every organ in our bodies, the Divine power and energy brings vitality and renewal to our mind and life.
When you are taking in and eating/drinking of the Divine energy in your life, you’re renewing your ability to manifest your inner power in the world. You’re aligning with the higher consciousness, and harmonizing your life with the miraculous nature of the spiritual realm.
And when Jesus said, “Do this in remembrance of me,” he wasn’t taking about him as a person. He was talking about the Christ Consciousness that he embodied, and used this as a reminder to embody the Christ Consciousness that is innately within each one of us.
Reflection Questions:
>> How can you connect with the Divine life force that rests within you?
>> What can you do to align with your innate higher nature and harmonize your life with the Divine?
This story continues to point you back to yourself, saying, “You are Divine.” The truth is that each one of us innately has the power to claim our inherent connection with the Universe, and tap into the purpose we were meant to share with the world.
