Mystical Messages of Easter Series: Garden of Gethsemane

Hello Lovely,

I’m really excited to come to you today because we’re approaching Easter, and many people across the world are preparing for celebrations in their homes.

Now, I’m not a Christian per se, but I am a deeply spiritual person and have dedicated my academic and professional careers to pursuing deep meaning that can be found in the world wisdom traditions.

And Easter is one of those special religious holidays that is packed with spiritual teachings hidden within it.

I’ve been doing a free series this week called the Mystical Messages of Easter, and I’m here to share with you how the different aspects of this story can help you to uplevel your spiritual practice, reclaim your inherent Divinity, and build a life in alignment with your higher purpose.

Coming up is Good Friday, and a day to remember the story of Jesus’ crucifixion. It is traditionally seen as a somber day, and is a perfect opportunity to lean into the suffering we’re witnessing around the world right now.

One thing that’s important to remember during these times is that while our pain is big, Spirit is bigger. While our suffering is great, our unity is greater. While uncertainty permeates the world, the Divine Light permeates the entirety of the cosmos.

So as we take a deep look at the suffering of Jesus during the events leading up to his crucifixion, death, and burial, remember the promise of hope and a higher Divine Purpose in all things.

Prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane:

The night Jesus was arrested by the Romans before his crucifixion, he went with his disciples to the Garden of Gethsemane to pray and meditate.

This garden represents a sacred space where you can connect with the Divine, even if it’s not a physical space. We all have the sacred space within our hearts where we can connect with our inner source of life. Even in Buddhism, the nature of life is considered to be one of spaciousness, and when you cultivate a sense of spaciousness in your heart and mind, then you can start to become awakened to the true nature of the Universe.

So the setting for this story takes place in a sacred space where Jesus is connecting with Spirit and he says this prayer, “Father, for you all things are possible; remove this burden from me; yet not my will, but thy will be done.” Luke 22:42

The premise is that Jesus understood he was going to be arrested and persecuted, and was asking Spirit to remove this obstacle if possible. But ultimately, he was asking that all things be done in alignment with Divine Will.

What’s so powerful is that he was able to recognize the greater purpose and Divine order of things, even if it looked bleak. Again, this is a potent lesson at this time during the pandemic crisis, and we can learn to have the faith that Jesus had in the greater Divine purpose of all things, even if we can’t see it.

I’ve seen this happen in real people’s lives as well - when someone is devastated by being rejected from the job, only to have an opportunity that was 10x better open up to them because they didn’t get the other job.

Or when a family loses a loved one, and they are brought exponentially closer together and heal age old family wounds in the face of death.

And maybe this has happened to you - You’ve experienced a great deal of suffering and then later were able to see the beauty in how things unfolded.

So this story of Jesus’ prayer in a moment of despair is a message of keeping the faith that there are greater things unfolding for you. It is a reminder that life is playing out for your good, and you can trust that the breadth of human experiences are here for your spiritual evolution. It’s an act of surrendering to the underlying good in life.

“Thy will be done.”
